Getting started

Connect your books to Counzel

Counzel reads your books from Odoo, Exact Online or Horus; nothing is installed on your side. Connecting takes about five minutes, in one place: Settings › Connections.

Where you connect

  1. Sign in at counzel.ai. As long as nothing is connected, Home shows “Connect your accounting system” with two buttons: Odoo and Exact Online. Each opens the right form.
  2. Later, or to connect another company: the gear at the bottom of the left menu (Settings), then the Connections tab. The “Add a connection” card is at the bottom of the page.
Open Settings › Connections

Odoo

You create an API key in Odoo and paste it in Counzel, with the address of your Odoo. Your Odoo user needs administrator rights.

  1. In Odoo, click your avatar (top right) › Preferences › Account Security › New API Key. Odoo asks for your password first.
  2. Name the key Counzel and choose Persistent Key, so it does not expire.
  3. Click Generate key and copy the key straight away: Odoo shows it only once.
  4. In Counzel, open Settings › Connections and choose Odoo in “Add a connection”. Paste the address you use to open Odoo (for example https://yourcompany.odoo.com) and the key. Fill in the database only if your Odoo has more than one. Click “Test & connect”.
  5. Counzel checks the key, loads your companies and starts a first scan of your books.
  • The key belongs to your Odoo user: Counzel sees what that user may see in Odoo, and changes it makes carry that user's name.

Exact Online

You sign in at Exact Online and approve access. There is no key to copy.

  1. In Counzel, open Settings › Connections, choose Exact Online in “Add a connection” and click “Continue to Exact Online”.
  2. Sign in at Exact Online with your own login and approve Counzel's access.
  3. Back in Counzel, the administration you signed in to is shown. Other administrations of your licence are listed under “Add an administration”.
  4. Open Home: Counzel starts a first scan of your books.

Horus

You sign in at my-horus and choose the licence Counzel may read. There is no key to copy.

  1. In Counzel, open Settings › Connections, choose Horus in “Add a connection” and click “Continue to Horus”.
  2. Sign in at my-horus with your own login and choose the licence Counzel may read.
  3. Back in Counzel, every folder on that licence becomes a company.
  4. Open Home: Counzel starts a first scan of your books.

Invited by a colleague?

  • Then the company is already connected. Counzel works on the books with your own login, so the books show who did what.
  • Odoo: create an API key as in steps 1 to 3 above (your Odoo user needs administrator rights), then paste it under “Your Odoo key” in Settings › Your logins.
  • Exact Online: in Settings › Your logins, click “Sign in to Exact Online” and sign in with your own Exact Online user.
